Well, so its the summer and its the quiet season for sports right?
Maybe not, that is assuming you consider Poker a sport and by the every man's definition (ie if they show it on Sportscenter its a sport) it obviously has reached the primetime. With many of its top players like Phil Ivey, Phil Helmuth, and a whole host of colorful others being recognizable celebrities to the mainstream audience. But I digress.... its august and all the poker players know that its time for the Main Event at the World Series of Poker.
All of which, brings me to the central thesis of this otherwise lengthy rant. Poker is a great thing for bloggers. The sport is distributed with tons (tonnes for our international audience) going on all over the world. Anyone can play - just post the buy-in and you can have your chips and a chair next to the likes of Johnny Chan or Scotty Nguyen. And above all the content, the commentary, and the analysis are ever green.
That said, I just wanted to take a moment to raise my glass to all those in blogosphere who provided great updates of the goings on at the main event - which thanks to ESPN's infinite wisdom will only be broadcasted live via PPV. Keep writing folks and as they say in poker, "may all your cards be live and your pots be monsters".
