Why I AM excited about RealTime

So here's the history.  I've basically been working on this product for over a year as the primary product manager on the team and truthfully it has been the most enjoyable year of my career for a couple of key reasons:

1) There are very few opportunities to go out there and work on a first generation product and own the entire experience.

2) I really believe there's a huge opportunity here for people as the whole RSS / Web 2.0 space is full of great ideas - but no one really knows how to monetize it yet.

3) After using RSS for the better part of a year I really do believe RSS will change the way people behave online as the web is really about to evolve and while its not as exciting a time as the mid-late 90's.  The Internet space is still a great place to be.

And last - but not least.

4) I really do love the product and the experience we are creating.  Note I totally realize that we're not there yet, but I can see the road map ahead and I'm very excited about the things we're working on and will hopefully be able to bring to market in the up coming months.

So that said, both myself and the entire RealTime team would love to hear your feedback about the product as we're working hard to improve it.

Welcome to RealTime

Welcome to the RealTime product blog. My name is Kevin (aka RealTimeGuru) and I’m the product manager for RealTime. I very much look forward to hearing from our users and sharing more about RealTime with those who are interested. That said, since this is a public forum there are a couple of house rules that I need to disclose:

1) This blog is purely about the RealTime service and meant as a forum to address feedback received from our beta users.

2) Comments about other RealNetworks’ products, services, or topics of interest will be deleted.

3) Vulgar or profane comments will be deleted.

4) Comments containing solicitations of other products or services will be deleted.

Please note I’ve intentionally tried to keep the rules simple as I definitely look forward to hearing what people have to say about our beta product. Also I just want to emphasize that this is a BETA product and we are constantly working to improve the experience for our users. So feel free to post your ideas or questions because we very much view this as a work in progress.

Welcome to RealTime’s blog – where you’ll always be the first to know.
